In traditional Chinese cosmology, the East corresponds to Wood in the Five Phases (Wuxing) and to the Zhen trigram in the Bagua. Its associated colour is azure, its season is spring, and its governing principle is the generation and flourishing of all things. By connecting the seven lunar mansions of the eastern sky, the ancients conceived of the Azure Dragon (Qinglong), one of the Four Symbols of Chinese cosmology.
The deck takes the East as its central theme, adopting azure as its foundational palette and the Azure Dragon as its principal visual motif.
The Classic of Mountains and Seas: Record of Lands Beyond the Eastern Sea (Shanhaijing · Haijing Dongjing) records:
"Above Tang Valley stands Fusang, where the ten suns bathe, north of the Land of the Black Teeth. There is a great tree in the water: nine suns dwell upon its lower branches, while one sun rests upon its upper branch."
The card-back design is themed "The Azure Dragon Spitting Forth a Pearl." The dragon pearl is interwoven with nine suns, while the Azure Dragon pursues and frolics with the celestial bodies in a dynamic interplay.
In terms of its composition, the deck takes Rana George's Muree system as its foundation and reinterprets it through the lens of Eastern semiotics. The complete deck comprises 51 cards, including seven replacement cards, two blank cards, and two original cards.
In addition, two cards—The Yellow Immortal and The White Immortal—have been added to the original Muree-based Lenormand system. While preserving the established meanings of the traditional cards, the deck incorporates the Chinese folk tradition of the Five Immortals (Wu Xian), making its interpretive framework more closely aligned with Chinese cultural
